I think the faster S&W ditches the Sigma, the better. Its a blemish on their line up. Few people are looking for "deals" in firearms. Quality, ergonomics, and features are more important than price to even novice shooters, being affordable is just a side benefit. This is only my opinion mind you... YMMV

No "colored frame" M&P 9/40.

(S&W is missing out on easy cash)

No more 619 revolver.

(fixed sights (channel), lighter weight, and smaller grip than the 620)

No blued version of a 619/620.

(a-la a new version of the M19)

I think the reason they dropped the 619 was b/c most people seem to want the 620.

The 64/10 models are fine if you don't mind just shooting .38.

I see they also dropped the 520. Hopefully it will come back out with a steel cylinder and pretty blued finish. That would be a hot seller.

The J-frame lineup is awesome.

Some more that I want:

M&P Pro (5" 9mm)

340 M&P

386 Sc/S

686 SSR

36-the new one with color case hardening

Yes, and I am sure people will choose either one or the other.

However, a good percentage of the 1000s of existing owners with black M&P-9/40s would be willing to purchase a second version [of the same model] in a different color ... that would not otherwise do so. Hence easy revenue for S&W.

I'll never understand why so many gun manufacturers, whom are already capable of doing so, pass up on such any easy cash cow.

I'm wondering how long S&W will be able to support their vast array of centerfire semi-auto handguns:

M&P

Sigma

Classic Metal Frame guns (whatever they call those 39/59 type guns)

SW1911s

SW990 pistols

Now I know that the 1911 satisfies a specific market, but I'd like to see their sales numbers on the SW990, 39-series, and Sigma. So far, I'm not sure what any of them offer that the M&P doesn't do better.

The Sigma probably just got a temporary reprieve with their acquisition by the Army for the Afghanis (Afghanistanis? Afghans? Wasn't this in an episode of the Office?). As long as they are cranking them out for the military, might as well sell some on the side. That survival kit with a Sigma leaves me baffled...

The 39-series guns are probably still in the holsters of more than a few police departments, but M&Ps are where S&W will push from now on. S&W may be scared that if they discontinue the 39 series, that the PDs using them will gravitate towards another mfg as the replacement, instead of the M&P.
