For target ammo:

About $6 per box for 9mm.

About $9 per box for .40.



Hollow points for defensive use are priced about the same b/t the 2 calibers.

12.88 for wwb 100 pack 9mm

17.88 for wwb 100 pack .40 cal



I paid 41.00 for a bulk remington 250 9mm pack at Sportsmans Wharehouse. That is a little more than 8 bucks a box of 50 or 16 bucks for 100 but I had a gift card

If you don't already have a .22 pistol, you will enjoy one more than you think (cheap, too). I recommend a Buck Mark....rounds out the collection nicely.
