I bought an M&P 9c without the thumb safety but later wished it had one. It is a newer build with a 2014 date and had the frame cutouts with frame plugs installed. It also has the universal sear block. I ordered the parts from Speed Shooters Specialties and installed them myself. Works great!

I want to add the thumb safety to my brand new M&P 40 too, but my understanding was that all it needed was the lever itself.... I need this other item as well in order for it to work?
The other parts are what hold the lever in position. Which is why you need to make sure you have the right sear housing.
