Any suggestions on M&P10 Sights?

A guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a new M&P10...so I didn't. Not as heavy as some other .308 AR's, and I'm impressed with the fit and finish. I'm really looking forward to taking it out. They come with no sights, so I'm looking for something to get it up and running. I will probably go with some flip-up iron sights to back up a tactical scope. Never owned an AR style of any kind and as I look around I have discovered a whole world of toys to hang off it. Momma's going to be so proud of me! (?) Any suggestions from you AR owners?

I'd personally go with Magpul or Troy Industries

+1.

Troy is solid, well designed and fairly expensive. Magpul MBUIS is light, quick, well designed and relatively cheap.
Thanks for the input. I had not heard of Troy but they look solid. If I can swing the extra cash that maybe the way I go.
Congrats on your latest, I have been tormenting myself about trading off my heavier battle weapon in 308/7.62 for the camo model M&P10, just to save a few pounds. But I keep telling myself to hold off and read more reports by owners, first.

Please let us know how your first range visit turns out.
I would say Troy, I haven't bought mine yet as the rifle should be here tomorrow. The Magpul buis can't go on the front sights, it will melt as it is made of "plastic".

Magpuls will melt???? What kind of bullshit answer is that?

Please enlighten us with some documentation to support this... LOL.

Since you will likely ONLY use your BUIS if your primary optic goes down, and if it DOES go down, you'll likely just stop shooting! Unless you're doing convoy protection duty in the sandbox next week... go with the MagPul BUIS set. Light weight and cheap, but durable.

Your primary optic is all about what you plan to do with the gun. If you never plan on shooting anything outside 75 yards or so, the a 1X Red Dot is the best pick. It all depends on your budget, but atop a .308, I wouldn't go any cheaper than about $400 for an EoTech, and up to a grand for an AimPoint. If you're looking at shooting big game at 300M+, then grab a variable power optic with a 40mm main tube. Prices will run from $400-$3000, depending on the glass! I'd suggest staying with a name brand, in the $600-1000 range until you get SERIOUS about long range shooting.

I have an EoTech on my 5.56 AR, and I can shoot 2" groups at 100 yards all day long with it. At 4-6X power with my former optic, 1".

The MBUS (Magpul Back-Up Sight) is a low-cost, color injection molded, folding back-up sight.
The MBUS Front Sight is adjustable for elevation and fits most 1913 Picatinny-railed hand guards, but is specifically tailored to the AR15/M16 platform.

You can See here from magpul they say it fits the hand guard rails, NOT gas block rails, hmmmm. I wonder why they didn't have gas block rails mentioned. Maybe because with extended shooting from the .308 will MELT them.
"NOTE: Cannot be mounted to a railed gas block due to excess heat issues."
Product Description

The MBUS Front Sight is adjustable for elevation and fits all mil-spec 1913 Picatinny rail equipped weapons but is specifically tailored to the .223 Rem platform. NOTE: Cannot be mounted to a railed gas block due to excess heat issues. Front MBUS must be mounted to a railed fore end on the same plane as the receiver rail. Made in USA. Impact resistant polymer construction provides light weight and resists operational abuse Spring-loaded flip up sight easily activated from either side or by pressing the top Detent and spring pressure keeps sight erect but allows for unobstructed folding under impact etc. Clamps to any standard mil-spec 1913 Picatinny railed hand guard and provides the same height-over-bore as standard A2 irons.

If YOU any more than that you can find it on your own. I think it says all that needs to be said.

I have midwest industries on my AR and troy sights on my KSG and both are top quality. GG&G are also very good. Magpul now has MBUS PRO soghts that are metal versions of their plastic sights and people are liking them.

I sent you a pm with some info to help you get addicted to the platform and go broke, hope it helps.
I'd suggest Troy. Buy once, cry once. You'll be glad you did.
I like the Daniel Defense fixed front sight and a folding rear sight. I have a 1-6 LPVO on top of mine.
