Hey guys. I picked up my M&P 40 today and cleaned it right when I got home. I didn't pay attention before I cleaned it but is this normal?



The finish on the crown is splotchy. I wonder if my bore cleaner did this. I used Blue Wonder gun cleaner.

The gun is test fired and it leaves residue on the crown. It can be difficult to remove. The pic is not helpful with any detail but I would guess that it is some remaining powder residue.

There's no residue left on the gun. It's clean indeed but the finish on the crown is light in color.

Almost all the M&Ps I have seen are similar to that.

There are usually small, light colored "dots" on the end of the barrel.

I'm not worried about it too much. It's all cosmetic. I was just wondering why the crown was almost silver in color instead of black. No biggie. Looks better on the business end.
