Thicker than what?



The typical 40 barrel will be thinner than a 9mm, just cause they don't change anything other than the barrel thickness, and my M&P wasnt' much different than my XD was...





If your comparing 9mm to 9mm, it could be that the pistol your looking at was designed to fire only 9mm, and not be interchangeable with a 40's.

I think he is referring to the cone muzzle of the M&P barrel. This is to ensure a very tight lockup, resulting in excellent accuracy. After the cone clears the muzzle, the fit is looser ensuring reliability.
