I recently received a M&P from Bud's Gun Shop and I thought I'd post my experience for reference to others considering the same. Bud's web store and process is OK but it is different than other stores I have done business with.
To avoid a wait due to distributor issues I called Bud's and verified that the model was in stock. I spoke to Brandon who verified that he had plenty of guns available. The next day I ordered my pistol via the website. I placed the order late on a Friday. I got an email from their system immediately titled "Order Process" which was basically a receipt. At this time in the Buds web store the order was marked Pending. This made sense because the physical store was closed and no one was likely to see my order until Monday morning. On Tuesday afternoon I checked on the order in the web store and it was still Pending. I called Buds to make sure everything was OK and Brandon confirmed that the order was fine and it was in the queue. He said I would get an email when it went to the shipping folks and another when it went out the door. Sure enough on Thursday morning I got an email titled "Order Update" that updated my order status to "Shipping". Then on Friday around noon I got another "Order Update" email with a status of "Shipped". Buds uses USPS for pistol shipments and quotes 2-4 days for delivery. For those that care my card was charged on the day of the order vs. the day of shipment.
My pistol was transfered to Jim Pruett's Guns and Ammo in Houston, TX and it arrived on Monday afternoon (only 2 days). Joy Pruett at Pruett's Guns and Ammo was very nice and the process was quick and easy. If you are in Houston then keep them in mind. The store is nice too.

Another thread said something about Bud's shipping orders on Friday so this may be something to think about if you are in a hurry. My experience was basically 5 business days from order to pickup at the local FFL.
