I'd go with federal HST, Speer gold dots or Winchester ranger T. If you don't wanna order online, your local sporting goods stores or the local gun shops should have some gold dots or HST's. If your willing to do an online order you can get a better deal and can get 50 round boxes instead of the 20-25 rd boxes most retail stores carry.

Any of the above plus Winchester PDX1's in your preferred caliber and weight! They are more expensive though, but not necessarily better. Hope this helps!:smiling:

They don't carry that exact load in 380, not sure its offered in that caliber, they do have a good selection of 380 ammo though.

380 Auto | SGAmmo.com

Critical Defense, XTP, Gold Dot, or Ranger are all good loads.

FWIW Critical Defense is a better choice for personal protection that Critical Duty. Critical Duty is intended for law enforcement use where penetrating doors and windshields is a necessity, but just not needed for personal protection.

I carry the same ammo that my local LE Agencies carry (Speer Gold Dot 9mm JHP 124gr. +P or .40 S&W JHP 180gr.)---WHY--way too many predatory DA's and Attorneys out there, never want any of them to say that I carried a "super-killer man-stopper". It's allot easier for my defense team to explain to the jury that I used the same ammo that the local LEO's carry and that my choice was not unreasonable...

I recently began carrying GD 124 +p in my Full size and the same load in the Short Barrel version in my 9c. My wife carries a .40 Shield loaded with 180 gr GD Short barrel HP's. We both have carried HST in the past with no issues what so ever. One reason we switched is the current availability of HST.

My FS9 loves tight groups with GD but it is actually slightly better with HST and it was exactly opposite with my 9C, it likes GD better. Both rounds fed reliably with no hiccups in both guns. Not one malfunction in either gun.

The biggest thing is to test rounds you might like in YOUR particular gun to see what it likes, for reliability and for accuracy.

Prosecutors will call you a wannabe cop because you're using the same type/brand of ammo the LEO's use :smiling:

If you use Tull ammo, prosecutors will claim that human life has no value to you because you used one of the cheapest ammo

Seriously, it doesn't matter what kind of ammo you use. Prosecutors will find a way to make you look bad, evil, cold blooded killer.

Law enforcement ammo is designed to do some things like penetrate windshields and doors that ordinary home defense ammo isn't, so that is something to keep in mind.
