I'm interested in obtaining a CCW permit in Cali. How do I go about doing this. I know its possible (but supposedly difficult). I've been searching on Google and what not, but I cant seem to find any good info on what I need to do (fill out forms, take some tests, etc?).

I live in West Los Angeles... anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Thx

SO DISAPPOINTED.

I've been reading any and all information I can get about how to go about obtaining a CCW in Los Angeles... and pretty much, I've determined its bascially an impossibility.

Because I dont have a dangerous job, dont transport valuable items or cash, or any other of the few and silly requirements which constitute "good cause" I'm basically **** outta luck.

Just another reason why I plan to move out of LA in a few years... The bad guys dont care about the law and so they carry all they way... but law abiding citizens get the shaft.

I did come across some very funny (if you can call it that) info, about how many celebrities are all for banning guns outright, or imposing even STRICTER gun control laws in California, and yet, they themselves either have guns, or have bodyguards which carry them.

Ah, the disgusting hypocrisy of Hollywood.

And your avatar is one of the worse ones. Especially considering he's governor out there and owns his old tank.

He's my avatar to remind me he is a complete and utter stooge & disappointment. I was SO hopeful when he was originally elected. I guess I actually fooled myself into thinking he could really fix things in this socialist state. Of course now its been revealed he's actually a socialist himself.

Just like in Santa Cruz County, where I live. Impossible!

Up until 5 years ago I lived in northern California (that's right, I wasn't involved in the idiocy involving ousting Davis) and only a few counties would still issue CCW permits. Mostly foothills and far north regions. Any city over 50000 pretty much says no. Of course Simi Valley in SoCal is the gleaming example of how CCWs should be issued. The city will issue CCW permnits under guidelines not related to your job or financial status, but after you have undergone phsycological testing at your own expense. They allow law abiding citizens to show their stability in the comminuty, and use all of their civil liberties.

California's has three huge problems regarding gun rights:

The state constitution does not have a Bill of Rights similar to the US constitution. Most states which joined the union after California's date of 1850 have the Bill of Rights echoed in the state constitution.

There is no state organization or regulations regarding CCW permits. Each local LEO creates the criteria for CCW permits. In some areas a city will deny a CCW, while a county sheriff would approve the CCW.

Senators. Two of the worst in the nation. I love Feinstein's desire to eliminate handguns unilaterally while she has a CCW herself. Go Team!

This is dated so don't take it word for word. When I researched LA several years ago this is how they avoided granting CCW permits. LA decided they would isse a specific number of CCW permits and no more. So once they were all issued they could deny at will legally by saying there were none available. Once some one got a CCW they never relinquished it. Really only by death or incarceration are these permits becoming available and then only aperson with connections is going to get one. It is illegal to simply saw "we do not issue CCW permits" but it is not illegal to issue only a certain number, or create rediculous criteria for one to be issued.

If you living in L.A. the first step to getting a CCW is to leave Calif. and never go back. For the next step...

Very true. Eventually, I plan on moving to Phoenix or some place, but not for a few years at least.

For now, I'm just s*** outta luck.

I would never advise anyone to break the law. However, I will say that if you're carrying concealed and doing it right, no one will ever know.

On that note - good luck in acquiring a permit!

I am going to Cali for a vacation sometime this summer. By that time I should have my CCW from MI. Is there any way to get a Cali CCW? If so how? I looked at the links posted on this thread and couln't find an answer. Thank you.

Negative. Their own citizens have a hard enough time getting a permit.

And in CA, its not just a CA permit, it depends on the county you live in. Some don't, or won't, issue any permits at all, period. Others, you have to have an extremely good reason, like being related to the Sheriff, or are famous.

This is what its like living in CA. God help them.

When will you ignorant people realize that the comfort and well being of Senator Dianne Feinstein is much more important than the safety of your relatively insignificant families. She's an important politician after all, what have you ever done for her. We rely on her wisdom, experience, goals and agendas to define our nation, in spite of ourselves. Obviously, there's a reason why her (and her family, friends and a couple of Rabbis) are the only 10 people in San Francisco deemed responsible enough to be issued CCW permits. Don't try to figure it out, you'll hurt your little brain.
