As of last week, Dawson wasn't yet making their fiber-optic front sight for the M&P. So I ordered their DP/Novak, .100 x .160 tall, FO front sight and cut the dovetail on it down to fit the dovetail on my M&P. I had to cut the front of the sight back about .050" where it extended past the front of the slide. I had to remove the FO rod to do this and replaced it with some of the supplied spare rod. I also opened the rear sight notch to .150" and painted the white dots out with flat black paint. I have included pictures.

TxD,

The bullet strikes at the top of the front sight at 25 yds. with my ammo, 147 gr. 9mm at a 132 power factor.

The FO is mainly useful for short-range, fast work.

With the same sight set-up on a glock 17 and 34, I would struggle to break 4 seconds on the plate rack at 11 yds., with a good run being around 4.1 or 4.2 seconds. With the M&P I am consistently breaking 4 seconds, my best run so far has been 3.47 seconds and I can fairly regularly run it in 3.7 or 3.8 seconds.

The M&P rocks!!!
