Started with a 39. Had or still do have a 59, 639, 5906, 4006, 645, 4506, 5924, 1006, 1076, and I'm sure I forgotten a few. IF S&W will ever make a M&P 10mm I can put the 1006 in a place of honor in the safe.
Wow...I can't match that collection but I still have my Mod. 59 which was the first semi-auto my dept. adopted. I followed that with a 457 for concealed carry and of course my 4506 which was a duty weapon. Still have all three.

I just retired a 6906 to the safe and replaced it with a Ruger Security 9 as the truck beater gun. Saw the 6906 bringing too much at the gunshow to make it ride *****.

I like the old steel frame auto's, the first shot was iffy but the rest were good.

My first gun issued was a S&W 5903. Currently issued a 2.0 45. We just traded in the 3 year old gen 1s for the 2.0.

My first S&W revolver was a K-22 Masterpiece (M17) bought in the mid-1960's and then a M66 that was traded for a 686 which I still have.

My first S&W semi-auto was a M39, followed by an M59, then a 5906 and a 6906. I liked these but eventually traded them away. After a S&W-auto free period I bought an M&P9 1.0 and replaced it with an M&P9 2.0.

The first handgun I fired was at MCRD Parris Island SC,1964. A 1911A1 for familiarization. Being left-handed semiautomatic pistols of the period were not equipped with ambidextrous control features. Revolvers such as examples M-15 were more left-hand friendly. I have a Gen-3 4506. Currently we have examples of the MP series.
