I have a question that is driving me nuts....when I dry-fire using my M&P40 (with internal mag safety) you can pull the trigger once and to reset the trigger you need to partially rack the slide. Does the M&P without the internal mag safety change this dilemma?

Any other ways around this problem? Are glocks the same?

Thanks in advance....

Look under the slide, theres a little bump on the side in there, then look at the frame, pull the trigger, it drops the striker(if it were there) then when the slide moves back it uses that little bump to push the rod out of the way of the trip(I don't know the technical term) which releases it and then the only way to reset the trigger is pulling the slide back which resets the trigger and moves the striker back enough to catch.

Striker fired pistols are all like that unless they have a double strike capacity. Glocks, XD's and M&P's do not have double strike capacity.

Hammer fired pistols are easier to practice with, obviously, because you can simply pull the trigger to practice DA and cock the hammer to practice SA.

recock with slide

Keep in mind, you only have to pull the slide back a little bit to re-cock the striker, maybe an inch or less. Also, I bought one of the Blade-Tech practice barrels. I really like it because I don't feel like I have to chamber check the gun for empty every dry-fire or two.
