Anyone live in a 10-round state? If could you try this test on your M&P. Load 5 rounds in your magazine and press down on the primer side of the top cartridge a few times. Then manually push the round about 1/4 inch forward. Note the clearance between the bottom of the round and the top front edge of the magazine.

Then push the top round back into the magazine and push down on the nose of the bullets into the magazine several times. Manually push the top round forward about 1/4 inch. Is the bottom of the top round about 1/8" lower, almost touching the top front edge of the magazine?

I ask because I'm having failure to feeds on my new Glock 19 using 10-round magazines if I load 5 rounds by hand (I live in a 10-round state). If I load using the factory supplied loading support, the top round feeds OK since it is pushing down on the case, not the bullet. Loading Speer Gold Dot jacketed hollow points.

Actually with 10 rounds loaded and round-1 at the bottom of the mag, manually pushing the rounds out of the magazine, rounds 10-8 feed out high, rounds 7-4 feed low and rounds 3-1 feed out high. I saw a post for the Springfield XD45 that had failure to feeds on rounds 3-8 of his 13 round magazine.

Wondering if I should buy a M&P 9mm instead if it has 100% reliable feeding using 10 round magazines.

Thanks for taking the time,

Taurus 24/7 Pro in 45 caliber had a lot of reports of the same thing even when brand new. That's why I asked

Actually I had failure to feed with only one round in the magazines. Hollow point would hang up on the bottom of the feed ramp. I sent my magazines to Glock and they replaced the followers. I believe they would have replaced the springs too if they felt they were out of specs. After I received the magazines back, I went to the range and had the FTFs on the top round with 5 in the mag.

Thanks,

When you load the mags, are you tapping them on the back to seat the rounds to the back edge of the mag? Kinda like the Army does in the movies when they tap the mags on their helmets. It does make a difference, seats the rounds properly and no more FTF.

Someone suggested hitting palm of hand and I tried that hard so my palm hurt but it did not help. Couple of people suggested changing the followers in my 2 magazines and I have replacement followers on order now. What I really want to know if anyone uses 10 round mags in their 9mm M&P, if they have any failures to feed. Just in case I can't get my Glock reliable, then I can buy a M&P.

Thanks,
