* Does the MP45 have the mag safety? If so, is it on all, or only some models, and how do you tell before you buy?

Yes, but only if you want it. They can be purchased either way. The SKU number will tell you, but it is best to ask. There is a link here somewhere to all the SKU's. I will try to find it later.

* Are the standard Novak combat sights pretty good, or do people usually find it necessary to swap them out for something else?

Don't know about everyone else, mine have been fine, but I am going to go with night sites as this is my HD weapon.

* If you get a model with tritium night sights, what brand of sights are they using?

I am not positive, but I think they are most close to Trijicon.

* If you get a 45 with the one-sided ambi thumb safety, how hard is it to switch the safety to the other side of the gun?

It appears to be fairly easy. You can download an owners manual from the S&W website that tells you how to do it.

I have one right in front of me... trust me it's on both sides. :wink:



It's the magazine release that can be switched. I'm no southpaw but I almost wonder depending on ingrained habits if I'd move it. I have small paws and can barely work the release with my thumb. I'd be tempted to try using my 'go to... finger' and see if it sped up reloads.[/quote]
