Hello all,
Ive been around watching this site and gathering info on the M&P 40c. I decided to buy it and share my story and thoughts on my new toy.
First of all I narrowed my choices down to the XD 40c and the MP 40c. The MP just fit me better. I have heard others complain about XD's customer service and others boast about how good S&W has been to deal with. The MP is made in America, so thats cool too.
Well, I decided to buy the MP 40c. I had been looking around town to find one. The only place I had seen one in stock was at the Scottsdale Gun Club. This was before my decision was final however, and that one slipped away. I had been calling them to see if I could catch one. No luck for about two and half weeks. Then I decieded to pop in there just to look at some other stuff and would check if they got one in. Well I pulled up and there was a Smith and Wesson Banner out front. So I start thinking right away there must be a Rep inside. I was right. They also had 4 MP 40c's and I got to fondle the new 45 a bit. I chose a 40c with a cool serial number and signed the papers as fast as I could. Since the rep was there showing off their stuff they had the 40c marked down 25 bucks. $475 plus tax. They gave me a Smith and Wesson Extreme ops knife, (I already had a better extreme ops knife with a switchblade) and a bag that had the S&W logo on it. Couple of range passes (since im not a member there yet).
I took the gun to Shooters World yesterday with a buddy of mine. I have to say I am really impressed with the acuracy of this pistol. I cleaned and Lubed the gun before shooting it. The trigger is amazing considering what I have read about others. The reset could use a tiny bit of help but I dont think Im gonna mess with much more than that. I put 98 rounds through it, (courtesy of my buddy taking a couple rounds to put through his baby desert eagle) so my last clip was only 8 rounds. I used a fresh target so I could post a pic with no confusion here. The very bottom hole is actually two rounds if you look close enough. I shot this target at 7 yards (21 feet) since I figure thats about where most people with be concerned with their CCW's. This is my new CCW. Oh yeah, this was with the worlds worst ammo, I mean 180 gr fmj Wolf ammo. Also this was with the short mag.(no pinky extention).
I only had one problem but I think it was my fault. The slide locked back on round 5, clip 3. I think my thumb actually caused this. There was no FTF or FTE. When it locked back I quickly depressed the slide lock and it fed the next round with no problem.
Anyhow, Thank you all for having me, and im sure I will be around. I should have at least 500 more rounds through this little peice of heaven in the next month. I will update any new info, good or bad soon.
