Well, I did the qualifier about a month ago and rand through my first match today.

it was interesting as the first stage was a blind stage so the gamers couldn't plan ahead how they were going to go through it. Granted, I failed to engage a few of those targets.

The M&P performed flawlessly. I wish I could have gotten some of that on video. I did pretty well on the last stage, didn't shoot blazing fast but kept everything on target. started at 20 yards, 6 shots, advanced to 10 yards, 6 more shots, advance to 5 yards and 6 more shots. I had 17 of them in the center mass.

I'll find out soon how I did

Congratulations !

On making it through your first match... you managed not to get DQ'd didn't hurt anyone or yourself and had fun

Have fun and keep shooting.. don't worry to much about the speed it will come with more shooting.

OH, by the way in case nobody mentioned it IDPA is a GAME

IDPA

Is a game for gamers, for some of us, it's practice outside comfort zone. It's easy to shoot well at home, when you control all things, quite another to shoot someone elses set-up on a timer (Slight Stress factor). Gun handling skills will be advanced much quicker doing matches, than at home. When a mistake is made, then you have something to work at at home. USPSA is also a great practice venue as well. For those who are competetive, you can be/do so at either. PS, all my work is from concealment, with carry pieces, including steel matches and USPSA. I don't concern myself with doing better than my friends, just my adversaries. The old waders vs running shoes in bear country routine.

IDPA is really fun. I enjoy the scenerios, especially when you are competing. Not only that but at the same time you are learning to be much more accurate and working on speed & safety. Two more weeks until the next competition.

I really enjoy USPSA, usually Limited division. I don't shoot IDPA very often. Last weekend I used the M&P for the first time in a special classifier match. I won production class (I've never managed to win my division before)! Now I just have to keep that up!

Congratulations.. keep up the good work.. I'm shooting production this year with my M&P 9 and so far it's a hoot.. but production is hard.. Think it will do me good if i decide to switch back to L-10 though next year..

Limited is fun to... matter of fact.. it's all fun..

I've shot USPSA for three years and its always fun. Blind stages do tend to add the stress of the unknown to the experience. Last Saturday I shot my M&P9 in a club match for the first time. It ran perfectly and soooo smooth. It performed better than I did. I will be shooting Production a lot more this year.

I just shot my M&P40 at its first IDPA match. I usually shoot my G17 that has been highly tweaked. It took a stage to get over the trigger but, then all hell broke loose. This thing points better, tames recoil better, and says USA on it!! I actually shot one stage faster than a couple master class shooters!! Luck, coincidence, or just the gun?

I ended up 7th out of 18. (that's with a couple of people going twice with a 2nd gun)

I was actually 2nd in the last stage to the guy who set the whole thing up. put 17/18 into the "a" zone with 6 shots from 20 yards, 6 from 10, and 6 from 5.

The M&P performed very well imo

I polished a couple of pieces and blacked out the rear sights.

I'll probably get the Burweil trigger job eventually.

I don't plan to do any more then that though

also, the one that missed the A zone on that target was only off by about 1/4" It almost touched the line

I couldn't justify the cost of Dan's trigger work when I had to add shipping x2!! So, I did the work myself (thankyou Dan for posting it for us poor folk) and it turned out great! I ordered an extra sear from the M&P store so I can put it back to stock if I need to. Then I installed a set of Dawson Precision F/O sights. Then I went ahead and polished the chamber and feed ramp for reliability.
Makes it nice to compete with now!!

I don't want to go too crazy as it is my carry piece. I'd like some night sites and the trigger job
