Got my new S&W FPC

I saw this at the gun store yesterday. They just got them in yesterday morning.

Managed to snag one :)

Now, I am waiting for the optic I ordered to come in. I watched a Youtube video to show me how t take it apart. It's not too hard, but it's a bit different.

Once I get the optic, I get to shoot it.

I watched a video review last night on Youtube. Guy shot about a 1" group at 50 yards. That's much better than the 2-3" average that the Beretta CX4 shoots. So, I can't wait to try it.

You have no idea what else has happened to me in the past week.

Actually, this is a normal day for me. It is frustrating how each and every day goes this way. My wife jokes that my ex wife must have a voodoo doll of me or something.
My younger son is in the same boat with you.
That poor kid (he’s 41 now) has the worst luck of anyone I’ve ever seen; or heard of!

Well; keep your head down, and your eyes open wide, though I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it firsthand; but y’all sure have a tough row to hoe! 😳😳

That's the way it seems to go sometimes.

Went to the shed two days ago. Pulled out the 2 stroke weed eater and it wouldn't even try to start (first time this has happened, I've bragged, for years about how easy it is to start and use after sitting all winter). Pulled the walk behind mower out. No surprise, it wouldn't start. Every spring I have to pull the carb off, take it apart and clean it out to get it running. So I decided to pull the tiller out and dig up some dirt for the tomatoes and cucumbers. It fired up on the first pull of the rope, like always. Been sitting since last spring and fires right up. I walked it to the spot I was going to till, increased the throttle speed, engaged the tines and it began to dig in. Went about a foot and noticed it was trying to tilt to the right. Looked to the right side and it looks fine. Looked to the left side and the outside tine wasn't turning. Shut it down, looked closer and saw the clevis pin that holds that tine on the shaft was gone. I could see the path in the grass from the tires and walked that path back to the shed, back to the tiller and repeated it one more time and never saw that pin. Spent a couple hours pulling the carbs off the mower and weed eater to spray them out with carb cleaner and still never got either one to fire up or even try to run.

Some days are just like that.

Finally some good news.

Grab A Gun will exchange it, as it is 3 days short of 30 days. So, I will be able to exchange it after all :)

You have to understand - I have the worst luck ever. My wife jokes that my ex wife must have a voodoo doll of me.

My luck... EVERY day... Goes just like that. You should have seen my day up to that point.

This is my life, EVERY day....

Remember that old show HeeHaw? That song. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have not luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me.

ShipWreck,

I'm sure you have plenty of 17 rd magazines, but have you found any extra 23 rd mags?

Actually, I bought a couple of 17 rounders.

I figured they would be easier to shoot on the bench. The 23 rounders will get in the way, unless I take the grip off the back of the bench.

So for now, I haven't looked for any 23 rounders. I just have the 2 that came with the gun.

When I got shoot it, I will decide which I will buy in the future. I am sure I will get at least one more 23 rounder. But, waiting for now... I want to shoot the gun before I buy anything else for it

Makes sense off the bench. I take it the 17 rd mags also fit and are easily removed from the on-stock holder?

Yea, they also fit in the stock. I plan to keep one 23 rounder in the stock, and one in the gun. Not quite as heavy. And, I find it easier to grab the mag on 1 side of the stock compared to the other side

This is the gun without the riser:

Wow, kinda big optic on that. Doesn’t an optic that sIze defeat the purpose of the FPC? I’d want the lightest most compact platfor. That monstrosity, IMO is a deal breaker. Again my opinion.

Not for me...

The gun folds in half, and makes a fantastic vehicle gun.

I live in Texas. In the summer, it gets over 160F inside of a vehicle, and easily over 110F in the trunk. This optic is electronic free. I did that for a reason, as I don't want to have to worry about the heat frying an expensive optic - should I choose to put it in my vehicle.

It's also my favorite optic. This is my 8th one of these...

And, when I use a red dot, the dot is not clear to my eyes. With the triangle reticle on the Mepro 21, I see the triangle very clearly. It is fantastic.

I think I saw the big 23 round (?) M&P 9MM magazines "on sale" somewhere.

Not saying this is a good price, but I think it's the first time I've seen them advertised. $48 each. Just $3 more than some SIG mags. I bought a year or so back.

It is interesting that they call it FPC mag, but it looks different than the mag that comes with the FPC.

Anyway, that is a pretty good deal. Thanks for posting.

Got my optic in today. This time, it worked right and would change zero.

I have it laser bore sighted now. All good to go :)

Well; I’m looking forward to a range report, but not as much as I’m sure you are! 👍
Good things come to those who wait…

Sho nuff.

I have been having back issues this week, so I don't know if I will get to shoot it this weekend...

Sorry to hear about the back problems. Still getting over mine (first time in years I've had an issue and still don't know what caused it). I just went with my new one and risked it. A few targets in one hand. A range back with the pistol, ammo and the usual stuff in the other hand. Maybe I got lucky as the worst for me was sore knees the next day from walking up and down the hill from the parking lot to the range. My wife didn't know I was going (waited till after she left to go shopping with a friend) and she was not happy about it.

Till you get to the range you can still dry fire there at the house (if getting into a firing position doesn't hurt your back more.)

What kinds (brand/bullet weight, bullet type) are you taking to the range to try out?

My 9MM carbine is an AR type and it seems to do well with the Federal 115 grain FMJ and the 115 grain hollow points I reload for the CZ pistols and the Shields. I've not shot any of the Winchester 124 grain FMJ NATO ammo through it. And no 147 grain ammo either.

I have Federal and WWB. I also plan to shoot Critical Defense. All are 155 gr. That works well in my CX4, so I will start there.

I shoot almost all Blazer Brass 115gr in my handguns. But in my Beretta carbines, they do not do well. It's like a shotgun. That ammo is not really plated, and it seems to start to break apart in the longer barrel (more velocity). That was the consensus at the range one day - several years ago. So, I don't shoot Blazer in my carbines.

I have found that WWB 115gr hits at the same zero as the Critical Defense on the Beretta carbines. I am hoping that is still the case on this S&W carbine. Hydrashock and Gold Dot do not. They hit off to the side as my target ammo. So, that's why I stick with the Critical Defense in the carbine.

It's neat to have practice ammo shoot where you carry ammo hits. That doesn't always happen.

It does if you roll your own practice ammo. 😁
