Well I've been browsing this site for a good week, probably. I just purchased my first M&P9 on Tuesday and got it out to the range yesterday. This thing is sweet. I think it's going to make a fine weapon. However, until now the only pistol I've ever dealt with was a Taurus PT92. So to be honest, knowing that there is really no safety on this pistol does make me feel a little...uneasy. I think it's just something I'm not accustomed to yet. But, just wanted to say hey!

I got the pistol at Buds Gun Shop in Paris, KY. That place has got a great selection, and killer prices! $399, before taxes. I know of nowhere that you can beat that price!

Welcome to the board. You've been here a week so you know this IS the place for great information, good company and questions well answered. I hope you enjoy the folks here as much as I have. Happy shooting...your gun is very safe providing you keep your finger where it belongs. You are the safety, don't ever doubt it. ;-)

The first thing I'm going to tell you is that the M&P is a LOT safer than your Taurus, the design is inherently more safe than any double action/single action type pistol.

The second thing I'm going to tell you is...

With the second gentleman........I have never depended on any safety....You are the besr safety money can buy......always remember that, and you will be fine........
