Here's one to watch from the Houston area.

By Carolyn Campbell / 11 News

A brand new security system may have saved the life of a Harris County homeowner early Monday.

The suspect was taken to the hospital.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 11200 block of Champion Woods.

The man says he was sleeping when the alarm went off.

He got up to investigate and said he found someone trying to get out through a garage window.

The homeowner said he told the suspect to freeze, but instead the man turned and had something in his hand.

That's when the homeowner shot him.

The suspect later died at an area hospital.

Deputies say the suspect had a knife.

The case has been referred to a grand jury without charges.

A perfect reason why a home security system is a good idea. They provide early warning and give you time to arm up.

Scarry thought. Think I might be calling Cover Security to see about having one installed. Got a daughter on the way.

Good thing the only one that suffered was the low life punk that lost his life for some dumb S^&$%!!!

Its crazy to think how things like that can just happen, and in an instant it turns into a nightmare....

That one came in as a news alert on my computer today from Channel 11 in Houston and I pasted in the text from the alert. I couldn't find the story on their site tonight, but here's another one from last week:

Good for the home owner...Bad for the homeowner. Hopefully, he does not live in an area with a politically motivated or anti-gun DA on the loose. One more reason we need to have the Castle Doctrine pass this session.

One more dead dip stick, Priceless....

I can see that the newspaper takes no care in it's tax paying citizens just like any other news reporting company. I hope to hell the bad guy was not or has not got ties to a gang, because they just pastered the homeowners address all over place, so any nut case can take a shot at him....

I think personal information like your name, age, sex, address, phone number, etc. should be protected from public view just like a case involving a minor is.

But hey, with my opinion & .50 cents you might get a soda pop..... :!:
