I had a very short discussion with a nice person at smith and he said that the decision would be up to the marketing people. So I would doubt we will see any in the M&Ps.

All's not lost if some of the barrel companies can make a barrel to change a 45 glock into a 10mm there is no reason they cannot make a barrel for the 45 M&P to shoot 10mm.

So for now I am just keeping my finger crossed.

If they made a 10mm M&P I'd buy it in a heartbeat, no questions asked.

I've been wanting a 10mm in something, and I don't want a glock or a 1911, which means I'm SOL.

(would also buy a cz97b in 10mm in a heartbeat)

I'm with ya there Dan. With a barrel change the ,40 M&P becomes a .357.

So get the .40 and .45acp's out and the aftermarket will support the needy. On 10mm, well I just don't see the need at all unless your just into 10mm stuff. It's becoming defunct.

Anyone making the .357 barrel for the M&P.40 frame yet? If not I bet EGW can do it in a flash!

Bring on the .45!!

Raz-0,

I agree with your logic, but you have to have an entirely different set up to just to run off the most difficult and single most expensive part the slide. As you need a different breach face on the 45 slide.

So I would guess that it would actually cost them a good bit of cash to "wedge some 10mm parts into it".

Too bad as I really like 10mm's, but I figure just give us some time with the 45 and we'll figure out how to cobble together a 10mm M&P

I would buy the 10mm M&P in a heartbeat, but I just dont think it will ever be produced. I agree with all the reason posted above. Too time consuming and costly for a round that has only a small "cult" following, as great as the 10mm is, it just isn't for everybody.

I suspect if you design the slide with the right ammount of meat in the right places, you are a CNC program away from having both calibers. I suspect with modern manufacturing methods, it's not THAT big a deal.

Will if smith-wesson produces a M&P 45cal I will buy one in a heart beat. if they produce a swappable bbl for 10mm or a 3rd party bbl I would buy one in a heart beat.

Face it, I don't see smith-wesson jumping off a dive board into shallow waters and producing a 10mm model. Look at the other mfgs and their efforts in building a 10mm platform. Outside of glock and EAA, no other mfgs have developed new auto-loaders handguns with 10mm caliber.

I know it sounds sad , but that's the truth.

Dan wesson offers a 10mm 1911, and CZ kept it around after buying them.

The 10mm is mainly very cool because it is so flexible if you handload. You can load it really mellow all the way up to something that makes your eyes bug out.
