17 years with the Copenhagen PD, Denmark. Hope its ok to "sign" up here when not from the USA.

Just if you curious to know, we use HK USP compact 9mm as duty weapon and have been since the late 90's.
They are currently looking into getting us new duty weapons, and the ones competing for the contract are: SW M&P, Glock, Canik, Beretta APX, Sig p320. All in 9mm but I dont know what size gun they are looking at, but probably a compact version of the guns.

Sure hope they look into the M&P 9c M2.0
Be a shame to leave that of their list.

What did ya`ll have for duty weapons before that...?
If it was the glock brand, i`ll bet there are some butt hurt glockoid`s crying over THAT decision.
Lol. Nope. We have a choice of several Classic P- series Sigs...229 or 226 in 9 or 40, or a 220. Some of them are 20 years old.

The other instructor/armorer and I spoke with three chief several times over the years about simplifying our parts, maintenance and ammo. He came to me earlier this year and said it was time for a new, 9mm, polymer framed, striker fired pistol.

I had 4 officers evaluate 6 guns and the M&P 2.0, Glock G5 & P320 came out in a virtual tie. The M&P was chosen, so here we are!

I see this thread has gone a bit long without a post, so I’ll add to it…

Been on the job for 20 years. 10 years to go before I can retire and start on my 2nd career!!

Thank you for all you, and those in law enforcement, do!

I'm hoping we as a country are recovering from the insane stupidity of the anti-law enforcement agenda, made popular by a small group of big-mouth idiots, and will again appreciate all that those in law enforcement provide the community.

Stay safe.

Thank you for the support!👍. It really means a lot. I too hope the press and politicians are finished with making us their political pawns also. Truth be told it became quite tiring. But, what can a guy do but tuck his chin and weather the storm?

Thanks again. This seems like a good place👍

Be safe

How is the M2.0 turning out for you and your department?
Sorry Claymore, I just saw your post...4 years later!
It's been better than I expected. All qualification scores went up, as an armorer, maintenance and repairs are much easier with only one platform.
The first 10 guns had issues with the finish coming off at the barrel crown, but accuracy wasn't affected. S&W was good with communication about our concerns.

They were issued with TRL-1HL lights, and only a few of us had ANY experience with a WML, so that's been a transition as well, but all have adjusted.

We're now transitioning to direct- milled mounted RMRs with 5 five guns a year. A few have zero desire to use a red dot, but they're the same ones that don't see the use of a red dot on a rifle either so.

What's your duty gun?
