I'm looking for a red dot sight for my M&P15A. I don't want to spend half of what the gun is worth on an optic. And I'm not going into battle. I was hoping on something that I could have had the option of magnification as well but I haven't found anything under $300. I've found a Bushnell 1x28 Trophy Red Dot for under $100 and it looks like it is good quality. Any experience with these?

I have buddy that has one, the glass is OK, but you get what you pay for... Have your tried www.opticplanet.com They have some great buys as well as www.sportsmanguide.com again they have some good deals. I have the M2 Comp Aimpoint on mine, but if I were to do it again, I may have chosen an open reticle, similar to what I have on my Mossberg 590 and the Mark III. For $150.00 or less you can find some good red dots.

Good luck.

Don't stop there, enlighten me, LOL. I'm assuming that by "open" you mean the sights that don't look like a scope, they just have a vertical piece of glass. What would be some of the advantages/disadvantages of these two styles? Oh yeah, I'm assuming you keep both eyes open with both styles.
