anyone to show me a softer shooting .40 caliber pistol than the M&P 40. I've fired well over ten thousand rounds through several M&P40's and they shoot as soft from the first to that last.

I've given LEO's from every level and type of LE you can think of range time with the M&P and every single one said the exact same thing.

"man this things shoots soft"

I was at the regional FBI Instructors days at Ft. DIX last March , there was every type of gun from many different manufacturers there and the only line was the one for the M&P !!!

thought you'all might wanna hear that

I think that the HK USP 40 is up there pretty soft on the chart. Its also smoother to shoot than the M&P but they have a nice buffer in the guide rod.

My XD40 has a Wolf spring and Don's guide rod that softened the recoil. So I cannot tell the difference in recoil between my XD40 and M&P40. They both feel soft to me.

I do remember, however, that they XD40 had more of a snap/slap feeling with the stock spring.

we had a local Sherrif's office in to qualify on our ranges-they carry Glock 19's and had a 9MM M&P for T&E and were underwhelmed with it-they let me shoot it and I didn't like it half as much as my carry .40 M&P

Can you describe what made you not like the M&P 9 as much as the M&P 40?

Soft shooting isn't the end all criteria for hand gun selection, for me at least - I'm more concerned with other areas of performance besides the perceived recoil. I have proven to myself on several occassions that softer shooting doesn't necessarily yield the better results on target and shot timer. That being said, what I've seen so far with the M&P's have been fairly impressive and yes they are very managable to control and easy to shoot fast.
