after months of thinking this through and weeks of bargainign with a pregnant wife, i have decided to get a ruger mini 14. wanted an ar-15, but too expensive, shotgun was priced right, but not practical to practice at my range with, and i have three handguns. the ruger seems to be a less expensive alternative to the ar. been looking at hogue stocks and 30 round magazines as well. all i need now is a scope and good to go. we have a gun show this sept. cant wait to see what they have. any people have input or knowledge they wish to pass on. also looks like the average price for a stainless barrel is around 600, is this too high or about right.

Dont let Morgan or Josh get in on this......They will break your bank.....lmao

Nice choice, mini 14's are great guns, especially if you customize them to your likings!

I dont have alot of knowledge with them, but good luck in your build!

I would save a little more money and buy a used AR.

I agree, the Mini 14's I have seen listed aren't too much differently priced from an AR15. I personally think you will find more accessories and a better feel for an AR15 than the mini 14. I think you need to do some more research, I think you can find better deals out there. But again, if its the Mini 14 you want, best of luck, I can help you spend your money there too...
Something like the SOCOM II version by Springfield Armory, mmmmmmmmm now that's sweet.

I hate to say this but before you buy at a gun show, do your homework... www.budsgunshop.com So far they are the best prices I have seen, and most of all they have QUALITY customer service... These guys will talk with and ask you what your needs are and help you with a decision unlike some who just want a buck. Its real hard to find deals at gun shows for that simple reason, you can do your homework from online, and besides most people at shows are impulse buyers, or just curious to see what's out there... It never hurts to make the call and ask a few questions, you maybe surprised at the answer you may get back in return.

IMHO, BTW I am a working man just like you, I just buy from good people who care about there products and advise me on who to avoid. Quality over Quantity everyday of the week... I wish I had the money some of these Jokers have and there builds, wow...

Besides, my rule of thumb is, I would rather spend a few dollars extra with people who know and care about what I want and need, and that I can rely on... Than those businesses that will sell you anything, just to sell you and not even remember your name.
