I want one of these.

I was browsing a local gun store today and fondled one of these. This gun just felt perfect in my hand. S&W calls this, "The 21st Century, Heavy Duty Replacement for the Famous Model 19."

Really, really nice.

Carbon steel frame and titanium cylinder.

7-shot .357 Magnum.

I know that I am immature and childish, even though I am old. I don't shoot the guns I have enough to warrant even having that many, but when I see something like the gun above, I want to go buy it. Strange thing is, I'm not that way about anything else. I may possibly have some ******* genes in me.
I forgot to post the model; it is a Model 520.
I really like this one. Similar to the 520 but holds eight rounds and carries the M&P logo.

I like the aesthetics of revolvers in general. Revolvers are unmistakable weapons while some of the semi-autos can look like toys (although not the M&P).

That is nice also. I prefer the medium frame though.
I rather have Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel Frames over the Very Pricey Scandium Alloy, I like Beefy Revolvers. I would love to see the 8-Shot M&P Revolver in Carbon Steel.
I agree. At close to $1300, the R8 pricey. They way I see it, that kind of change is better spent on ammo to feed my M&P .40.

I can appreciate a nice revolver nonetheless.
I don't remember the exact price, but the 520 was around $550.
Very tempting!

It's avery good price indeed, but....

Are you aware of the 2-Piece Barrel, just like Dan Wessons??

That's why I still like the old fashioned Model 19's!! I have 2 od them, in 4", great little revolvers!!

Mine have both been worked over by the Performance Center, Bobbed Hammers, Trigger Stops and Double Action Only!!, they are both magnificent, and I got them both for a song, because they needed work!!

I saw that mentioned on the S&W website. But I don't know what exactly they are talking about. It looked like maybe there is an "outside" barrel with a "sleeve" inside. Is this correct? Please fill me in on the 2 piece barrel. What's wrong with it?

There's nthing wrong with it, I'm just an old fart that likes it the old way

It's like the Dan Wessons, Not interchangeable like DW's though!!

The barrel (Withlands & Grooves) screws into the Frame, then the outside Sleeve slips over the barrel and gets secured with a retaining Nut on the Front. I think this way, you have a less expensive way of making barrels.

Call me crazy, I still like the One-Piece barrels better

I might get qualified in IDPA with one of my M-19's, just for kicks!! I can't shoot them in competition worth a crap, but it would serve as comic releif at the match!!

S&W Model 620

I still love revolvers but I already have enough classic (no IL, no MIM) Smith's. I'll have to pass unless they start making them like that again.

I can do without the IL, the MIM doesn't bother me too much, at least not as much at the 2 Piece Barrels. S&W is not doing these on all models, just these 7 Shot L-Frames, at least AFAIK.
