Being a CNC programmer in wood I like to design things. Anyone have any interest in 2 more rounds out of their 40? and more out of their 9mm?

I've gotten 17 rounds in my 40 and it fired reliabily with the stock spring, I haven't tested it in the 9mm as I don't have a pistol, nor do I know if the bases are interchangeable.

This is a prototype, and its made of cast acrylic, easy to cut and design on, but I feel its to brittle to use every day. I'm going to stream line the base and prolly go to a black plastic, not sure what type of plastic though, as I'm new to machining plastics.

Sorry it was a camera phone that I used for the pics.

The notches were cut by hand, and the 2nd prototype were cut crooked, thus the base tapered away from the pistol.

I have the second set of prototypes running.

I was also told that 9mm bases fi the 40 so as soon as I get another one ready I need a tester.

Keep in mind these are out of plexi, and arn't production. They will shatter right now.

I need someone familiar with plastics to tell me what kind I should look into. I'll do some research online also.

How about Lexan?

Lexan is pretty durable and shatterproof. We've used it countless times to cover control panels on arcade games.

That doesn't mean that you can't destroy it, but as inexpensive plastics go, it's worth considering for a 2nd generation prototype.

Jester,

Maybe we can talk Wolff into making longer springs. I'll give them a call this coming week.

The reason I'm interested in the +4 is for IPSC Limited. I currently use a Para 1640 with Dawson extensions. I tried the M&P40 but had to reload several times on some of the longer stages.

I eliminated the mag disconnect and am going to do the trigger job. I need to order some things from Brownell's. Might just order a spare sear housing block assembly just in case I screw it up.

Keep up the work on the mag extension.

I'm currently working on a recoil spring tester. Hope to have a prototype done in a couple of weeks.

I've got what I need right now for the shorter ones, hopfully will get some good material to make an actual run that I can send out to testers.

I figure that I'm using .5" material for this, .75 material I should be able to get 4 in.

What is the limit on length for mag ext. in IPSC? I though it was 140mm?

I am thinking about welding 2 9mm mags together to make a 30+ round mag. I think I can use a spring out of a Glock 33 rd. mag.

I just don't want to waste $70 worth of mags and end up with a POS!!!

I really am going to try this.
