that pesky slide locking back on the last round problem. Dan, you should have my gun tomorrow. Do your magic please and I look forward to the new trigger job. It should be a whole new gun when I get it. 'Can't wait.
I just put my first 400 rounds through my MP9 today and the slide failed to lock back on two consecutive mags about halfway through. Is this a common problem? Everything else functioned perfectly from start to finish. Just wondering if it was my mistake (thumb) or is it something i need to look out for? After it happened i field stripped it, everything looked normal, so i put it back together and kept going with no more problems.
Your issue is probably due to your thumb resting on the slide stop lever, and keeping it from engaging on an empty magazine. This is why I wish S&W stuck with the original design low profile slide stop lever instead of the newer extended lever.
I have two M&P compacts, a 9 and a 40 and have not had this problem, but read that many people do. If it is a thumb problem, well it will just have to go.
THanks for the reply. You know, i was thinking about it last night and i think when the malfunction occured i was trying the small backstrap. I used the medium for most of my shooting b/c is seems to give me better trigger control.
Anyway, i'll be sure to pay closer attention next time or just glue my right thumb to the top of my left
