Some of you may have heard of the Bullite system that is a laster cartridge that fits in your barrel and when you fire the trigger it contacts the rubber pad on the bullite cartridge and fires a laser beam out of the barrel. This allows you do try fire with special targets and such. Well I have a 9mm bullite and have been using it in my XD and Glock 9mm but it won't work in the M&P 9mm. I'm not sure why or if the cartridge sits too far for ward or the firing pin just doesn't make it to it? If anyone has any ideas? Just thought I'd pass that along for those of you that were contemplating that system for use in your M&P as it might not work.

Dude,

Look up, now!!

see that dark cloud?

Seriuosly though if you (no ammo) put a pencil in the barrel and dry fire does the pencil come out briskly? if not you may have gotten another lemon although likely a much easier fix. May just need to take the striker out and clean out that channel. I have heard of some with debris in there causing light primer hits.

You could also check you batteries in that fancy star wars toy. There is no reason I know of why it shouldn't work with the M&P.

Ahhh! Don't tell me that. I've never had so much trouble with a model of firearm. I think someone is trying to tell me something; like I'm not meant to have this pistol.
Yea, I did check the Bullite. It works fine in my other 9s but put it in the M&P and nada. I'm getting tired of driving down to the gun shop which is 1.5hrs away. How hard is it to clean out the striker channel? I'm a handy guy but have never fully taken apart a pistol before. Why would it be dirty from the git? Would blowing some compressed air in and around the striker help? Thanks.

To clean the striker:

-remove slide

-remove the back panel of the slide --- look in where the striker is, and you'll see a white plastic sleeve, you need to slide this forward to pull the back panel out, its spring loaded and you'll need a skinny pick to do so. (pushing the striker saftey up and the striker forward makes pushing the plastic thing forward easier)

-The striker will slide out the back after doing so.

Clean using compressed air, small bore brush, or whatever.

you can also remove the spring by compressing it. Be aware that the plastic sleeve that holds it is actually a 2 pc collar that you can lose very easily.

Jettubby,

Here is the best directions I have seen yet to help you get the striker out.

Did you try the pencil trick yet?

I'd hit it with some compressed air then a 22 bore brush gently and follow with air again. Don't lube the striker(attracts dirt).

How's it get dirty... well it is not dirt it is plastic shavings from the plastic sleeve that is inside the striker channel.

Thanks Jester. I'll give it a try.

Update:

I did the pencil test and the M&P would not push a full sized pencil completely out of the barrel. It pushed it about half way.

I removed the striker. It appeared normal. I cleaned the striker and channel. Put it all back together and nothing had changed. I'm wondering if the striker is a bti too short or there is another problem? For comparison I did the pencil trick in my G19 and XD9. Both shot the pencil out about 2-3 feet. THe below pic is also as far out as the striker will go. Maybe someone sees something that I don't........................................... thanks.

Hopefully Dan can help you, cause my striker is different from that on my 40.
Jester,

I guess we should call it the second generation striker. There are a couple changes on it, I believe to help remedy some of the early problems.

There have been several small changes on the M&Ps. The striker is a good change, one of the most recent is my least favorite. They made the dang sear deactivation lever smaller and straighter so it is really hard to take down with your finger now. drives me nutz when I am working on one with it.

I have sent Jettubby a PM to see if we can get somewhere other than back to the gun shop
