Last round jam

I have a new m&p 45. I've put about 200 rounds through it. It is lubricated and cleaned to the manuals specifications. The last round in the magazine 9 out of 10 times will not go all the way into the chamber, leaving the slide part of the way open. Is this a problem with the factory magazines not having enough tension on the last round? I've been using Federal American eagle ammo, and Blazer brass. Do I need to send it back to s&w?

If you look around the forum, there is at least one post with a similar problem... if I remember correctly, it was the magazine.

That thread doesn't really answer the question. The last round is still jamming. I'm about to send it in. Any other thoughts? Sometimes the expelled cartridge it stuck straight up out of the slide, and sometimes the last round is not entirely chambered. This happens consistently on the last round of the mag. Any thoughts?
Have you tried cleaning the Magazines? Specialy the plastic follower.

andyman,

I had to send mine back to S&W for jamming with any number of rounds left in the magazine. They replaced the extractor.

My extremely amateur opinion is that in your case, the last round is being presented at just enough of a different angle than the rest of the rounds that it is binding on the extractor.

I was extremely disgusted with mine, but after its return, it has been 100%.

Good luck.

I've got the same problem and the pistol just got back from S&W! I had a problem with sporadic FTFs and they replaced the barrel. Upon return, I just put another 150-rounds through mine and experienced 7-FTFs on the last round in the magazine. What a piece of crap - I've totally lost faith in this pistol.
Ammunition

I spent the day today running 200 rounds of steel cased Wolf ammunition through my m&p 45. It did not fail once. With brass ammo, it was failing 10% of the time. I'm thinking its just being broken in. The problem definitely lies in the feed lips on the magazine. The smoother steel case glides right through, while the brass is slightly sticky and gets caught. Hopefully after some more time, it will feed brass properly. Any ideas on how I can modify the feed lips on the magazines?
