I just heard from a source that they have started to make the compact 40. If all goes well should start shipping in a week or so.

I just got off the phone with a customer service rep. from Smith. According to her they have not yet determined a release date for the 40c but it will probably be in the next 3-4 weeks. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Got an email from Smith. Said they would be shipping them out in a month for the 40c. Yay another month.
