Size:

Gun is smaller than I thought it would be. Compared it to a Glock 26 at the funstore and it is roughly the same size.



Grip: I wear an XL glove and prefer the medium grip on the full, but on the compact I like the small.



Trigger: The compact trigger is worse than the full size trigger. Much more overtravel, pretravel is STIFF (plunger is much stiffer on this compact), but the break is more crisp.



Pocket Carry: I have big pockets and have no problem pocket carrying the gun if I had a pocket holster.



Interchangeability: Full size magazines work as does my Comptac Infidel.



Roll Pin Problem: The rear roll pin slightly protrudes the back left. Unfortunately I don't have a roll pin punch to push it in more.



Beavertail or lack thereof: I don't think I have the meatiest hands, but the beavertail from the full size feels much better in my hand.



Overall impression: Overall I am not very impressed. It is smaller, but I like my full size SOOO much more. The compact really needs Dan's magic on it and I am still saving up for both of my M&Ps to be sent to him. In hindsight I would have bought another Full size (209301) or a 1911.

LOL. If I didn't have to pay off my new $1000 bed then it would be there right after I shot it!

It seems to me the recent M&P's have been plagued by some excessively sharp edges on the plunger that catch the usually rough trigger bar a little more.

The compact I have is an MPL and the full an MPJ. The plunger does seem sharper. However, playing around with it more it seems the source of the heavier trigger seems to be the trigger return spring. The striker also had a lot of finish on it which is starting to come off (im at about 1000 dry fire pulls now). Trigger seems to be starting to wear in.

As far as the punch goes I guarantee you have one.....Called the take down tool it works very well. The M&P can be completely disassembled without tools. You use the take down tool as the punch and the slide as you hammer (if you were in a bad fix in the field and just happened to have spare parts). But it is kind of a cool idea that no tools are necessary.

Did not even think about that Dan! Thanks for the tip, gunna go try it. I usually just grab a pen to trip the sear deactivation lever. The takedown tool is much easier to remove on the compact due to the larger plastic end piece.

Just wait until you shoot it you won't be so willing to part with it. I found them to be very nice shooters and quite accurate for a compact.

Oh I don't want to part with it. I just have not been as impressed with it as the full size as of now. We shall see when i take it to the range. I'll be sure to do a full write up on it.



I have been drawing it and need to get used to the shorter grip on the draw from IWB concealed.

Just noticed the end of this roll pin is silver (looks like finish came off). All the M&Ps I have seem (including my other) have the black finish on the roll pins. Anyways, I tried to use a rubber mallet and the takedown tool and it didn't budge. I'm just going to leave it for now as I don't want to mess anything up with this brand new gun.

Found my punch set, found a real hammer and drove it out. No burrs, but there were a few bits of plastic in there. Put it back in and centered now. Time to hit the range :twisted:

Writing up my range report now. I noticed that the sears are also different on both the compact and my full. The angle for the sear/trigger bar contact is much closer to the trigger job tutorial on my full size. This is probably another reason for the trigger feel differences.
