So, I was doing some trigger work on my M&P 40 and, in the process of putting it back together to do a quick test before doing a bit more tuning, I neglected to put in the front roll pin.

I heard a little "clachunk" and this is my result. It looks like my barrel/guide rod is forward of my locking block, the take down lever is stuck in the down position, the slide is a little forward of battery, and I cannot get the slide off for the life of me.

I eventually tried driving out the trigger pin which gives a bit more upward clearance between the slide and the frame, but I can't get the slide forward enough to clear the rear rails on the frame to get the slide off. I'm trying not to apply too much pressure until I get some second and third opinions.

Any thoughts?

Excellent; bet you’ll never forget to replace a pin ever again!
True story! The root cause thought was the spring that goes into the locking block had come out, so when the slide came back, the take down lever was out of position and directed the barrel in front of the lug, locking up the gun.

What a pain! Lesson learned. :)
