same place I got that info said that

"compact 9 should be out late next month, 45 by shot show"

by saying 45 he meant not the compact, it was an answer to my question.

Hello to all, my first post on this forum.

I am considering the M&P9L for IPSC shooting. I have enquired with SW as to the possibility of ordering some spare parts to keep ready at hand as a contingency (I do not live in the USA). Have yet to receive a reply but I have the following queries that I hope can be answered here.

1: The SW pistol parts doc indicates certain (e.g. locking block) parts as "Restricted to factory trained armourers". Does this mean that SW will not ship these parts to end consumers like me, or rather that they 'recommend' that these parts should be installed by factory trained armourers?

2: The same parts doc does not list and give the part numbers for what should be the extractor (including related spring and pin) and striker block (including related spring and what seems to be a small cap). These parts are however displayed in the M&P exploded view. Does SW not sell these parts? Has anyone obtained these parts and if so from where and what are their references?

Hope to not have been too detailed. Thank you for eventual replies.

You do not have to be an armorer to get the parts.

Yes, they sell the other parts you mention.

I have a complete list of all part numbers if I can ever get time to organize them...

Thanks for the prompt reply. One thing I am looking for is parts availability. Apart from SW there is also Brownells that ships internationally. I presume that also Brownells would have the extractor and striker safety parts; would appreciate if you could post the part numbers or some other way to reference them when ordering from SW or Brownells.

extractors are restricted parts, i believe the firing pin block part number is: 277980000.

Why would the extractor be a restricted part? I would expect something like the receiver to be a restricted part.

In any case thanks for the info - does the part number you mentioned cover all three parts (block itself, sping, cap) of the firing pin block?

I always buy the parts directly from S&W.

The extractors are not restricted...That just depends on who you talk to at S&W.

the extractors are restricted to general sales. having a "contact" who will get you one doesn't do any good for the general public if they don't know who to ask. if he calls and asks to order an extractor he will be told they can't sell them.

A friend of mine has no contacts.

He called and ordered 2 extractors last week.

Again, it really depends on who you talk to.

can you give me the extension # or name of the person your friend spoke to? s&w will not even sell the extractor or sear and/or sear HB for the 45 to brownells so i find it hard to see how someone without any contact at all would be able to get them shipped out just by luck of the draw. brownells told me twice they have tried getting the parts from S&W and every time they were told they were factory restricted and cannot ship them. maybe it's just the 45 extractor and sear block, i know they sell the sear block for the 9/40/357 but not for the 45. i have spoken to several different people from s&w and every one of them say they cannot sell / ship the extractors or sear blocks for the 45.
