i was following this other member while he was removing some paint from his slide, not sure if you saw it or not, but it explains what he used to remove the paint.

Not sure his method would work for you or not, but i didn`t see any damage to the black coating by him using non-acetone nail polish remover. (see post #14)

That thread was referencing removing the "paint" that the previous owner had put in the S&W logo, not the "warning."

I haven't seen anyone successfully remove that lettering, yet.

Yup understood Rick...
i was mainly referring to the tools that where used to remove the paint without saying so.
The only people i`ve seen successfully removing the labeling were the ones having their slides re-coated.
