What/if any changes would you wish S&W would make to the M&P pistols.





The only change I can see is to dehorn the front sight. Other than a sharp front sight the pistol is pefect for me.





Could I smooth the upper edge of the the front night sight to break the sharp edge?

I'd get rid of the rail...I don't use lights on my guns and I think it makes the M&P uglier than a Glock (that's just my opinion, though). I'd also eliminate the beavertail...which I will do when I can find someone to do it reasonably priced with a quick turnaround time.

I like it just the way it is. If I were going to change anything, I would take out the sear deactivation lever.

Rails...I can kind of understand it on a service sized gun but on a compact/.subcompact i really don't like them. For a gun that is designed for carry, it adds unneeded bulk.

Adjustable sights(screw type). Other than that, it is fine for me right out of the box. I have about 2000 rounds through it...not one failure of any kind and my shooting gets better with every session. I am buying a compact for my wife as soon as they hit the market.

I think the rail is kind of ugly, but I see why they have to have one, marketing-wise. Somebody with photoshop want to create a non-railed version, I'd like to see it !

ALSO-stainless steel mags. I'm guessing the price point they wanted to hold didn't let that work, but I hate paying $35 bucks for blued mags. Also, if the triggers can be made better by the relatively minor amount of work/reshaping, maybe the M&P II will incorporate some of those changes. I'm still trying to decide on the slide stop...bigger or not...

More ways to spend your money!!! You got it...also did a highly anticipated longslide version. Edited to add G19 size version. EDITED AGAIN to add an IPSC competion model....THIS WOULD BE A G34 killer - Step on the front slide replaced with full length to add weight to muzzle, forward cocking serrations, magwell, extended basepads.

Changes I would make?



I'd like stainless steel magazines. IF the signma has them, why not the M&P?



I'd like them to have a properly sized overtravel stop that actually prevents overtravel.



I'd have made the texture on the frontstrap a little more agressive.



I'd like some sort of texturing on the trigger itself. Serrations, some of the funky pattern like on the front strap. Something.

Changes I'D SUGGEST FOR THE M&P

I like the M&P very, very much. However, I'd change a few things.



I like the loaded chamber indicator that is on the XD, it sticks up so you can feel if the gun is loaded, in th dark! Also, I'd like the striker to stick out the back, like on the XD so that you can feel when the gun is cocked.



The loaded chamber indicator (that sticks up when a round is chambered) should not be too difficult of an engineering issue, but I don't know about have the striker stick out the back.



They could also shorten the beavertail, make it more like the M&P compact will be.



HOWEVER, THE ONE CHANGE I THINK JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY WOULD LIKE IS THE LOADED CHAMBER INDICATOR THAT STICKS UP WHEN A ROUND IS LOADED, SO YOU CAN FEEL IT IN THE DARK. IN MY OPINION, THE PISTOL WOULD BE NEARLY PERFECT THEN.

I like the Mag Release button on the M&P, however maybe someone could easily manufacture a variety of different versions. Different textures, extended release, or shapes: oval vs round etc. Kinda like different ones for the 1911 or even the Berreta PX4 that has 2 options. It would seem to me that someone with access and experience with plastic molding and manufacturing could do it.
