I just picked up my new M&P40. In trying to load the 15 round magazine, I can only get 7 rounds in the magazine. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong - any ideas?

I would disassemble the mag to make sure there aren't any obstructions in there. The mags are quite stiff when new, but I can't understand how you can't even get the clip to half of its full capacity.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't find any obstruction per se but after doing so I am able to load the magazine to its capacity.

I practice reloads a lot where my mags hit the ground and pick up bits of sand and gravel. I have found that very minor debri particles can generate hard spots in the load cycle. What I do frequently is tear down the mags and wash them followed by silicone spray. An alternative is to push an old siliconed cloth thru the mag tube wiping any contaminates out and depositing a bit of lubricant in the process. It doesn't hurt to occasionaly spray a little silicone lube on the cloth or in the tube prior to pushing it through.

One other possible cause of your problem is an extra long round of ammo.

Have fun with youre new toy.

It sounds like you would be a good candidate for the Uplula magazine loader, it's a universal pistol magazine loader and takes care of those sore fingers from loading magazines. The Uplula is a universal loader, fits all pistol magazines, single or double stack, works with all of them!

The MP Store has them! https://www.mp-store.com/~mpstorec/
