I want to convert my M&P40L to shoot 9mm (as well as 40cal). I know that I need 9mm mags and a 40cal to 9mm conversion barrel due to the 40cal extractor. M&P40Pro to 9mm conversion barrels are cheaper and more available than M&P40Lto 9mm conversion barrels.

Question: Can I use a M&P40Pro5" 40cal to 9mm conversion barrel in my M&P40L pistol?

I think they are compatible but I wanted to ask before I made a purchase.

The difference between the 9 and 40 t isn't the extractor, the 9 has a narrower notch where the breech face of the barrel and slide lock up. The 9 barrel is too narrow in the 40 slide to completely lockup and the 40 barrel will not fit into the 9 slide. Other than magazines and the markings on them those are the only differences between any M&P9 and 40.

There are no differences between barrels of the 5" M&P L and PRO models.
