I am loading a lead coated in something slippery projies for the 9mm Full size with an OAL 28.7mm (1.129”) and putting out an average of 1048F/s (ME 297) PF 128.

My question is:

What is the Min OAL for the 9mm and the projies that I have has a rebate cut around them. When I load them to a “nice” OAL the case sits half way between the rebate? I moved them in deeper (reducing the powder appropriately) but just thought I would put the question out there…? A mate shot it in his Tanfog 9 and they feed and performed ok…



What say you? Anything to be concerned about? BTW the loads are for targes only.

That's a groove for the lube for a lead bullet, since most lead bullets are sold uncoated, the molds available have this grease groove. With a lead bullet you want that covered, since the lube is sticky, your coated bullets don't have this problem. While you don't have to cover it, leaving it uncovered could possibly cause feeding problems.

I use the stainless case gauges from Dillon! www.blurpress.com or #1-800-223-4570.



they work great and easy to use. Handgun calibers run 10.95 and rifles 20.95

FYI- looks to be a Bear Creek moly coated bullet. That is a grease ring and no grease is required due to the moly coating. Precision bullets are straight walled- meaning they have redesigned the bullet mold to remove the grease ring. That usually bumps up the weight of the bullet 5 grains or so.

I got 750 of the projies, so I'll use them up and get another style after... a straight wall type.
