Mag Safety Removal

I apologize for starting this new topic but I am looking for a previous topic regarding the removal of the mag safety on the M&P's. It had pictures and nice step by step instructions. I can't find it anywhere. Can someone help? Thanks

TIGS,

You're the Man. Thanks so much.
Your welcome  Let us know how easy/hard it is
Just did this

I just did this on my buddies M&P 9. I took me longer to get the spring length correct than it did to get the rest of the job done. I am looking forward to doing my own once I buy one.

Chris
chris914, you can order one w/out mag safety.
It comes minus the mag disconnect with the stupid warning on the side.
Is it difficult to retrofit/ install a mag safety?

I bought a MP 45 online and had it shipped to my FFL without checking the California DOJ approved list. It is one of the DBE models with a manual safety but no mag safety and so I don't think it is California legal. The only difference between approved and unapproved models, that I can see anyway, is the lack of a mag safety. Is it possible to install one to make it legal?
Your FFL will have to go by the SKU number. If it's not on the approved list (and it won't be) then you're out of luck. You can't just add the mag safety and pick it up. Hopefully whoever you bought it from will exchange it but it's probably going to cost you some shipping.
Thanks for the honest reply Sholling.

That's what I was afraid of. They don't have any with the mag safety at the dealer I bought it from. I'll send it back and buy the California legal version from Buds.

Marty
Buds or Davidsons. At least Davidsons won't sell you one that isn't legal.
Anyone got a working link for this? The one listed here seems to be missing. (Or even better, anyone have it as a PDF to share?)

Thanks!
Just finished removing the safety on my MP45 so I could install CT grips. Just knock out the drift pin and lift the block out and the safety will drop out the bottom of the block.
The block doesn't seem to just "lift out" on mine. What else has to come out/off first?
Sear block will just lift out. You may need to pry up slightly with a punch.
Thinking about doing this myself as well for IDPA.... So, any suggestions on a spring I could pick up from Ace hardware? I see Dan recommends a 1911 mag release spring, but I don't have any spares.

Update... went by Ace and bought a spring. Installed a few minutes ago. Dan's tutorial is perfect. It took maybe fifteen minutes and that's only because I'm so skittish working on guns.

Thanks Dan.

I just pulled apart a clicker pen and basically coil binded it

Streched what was left and even the pen still works

put 80 rounds through my new M&p the trigger dropped another half pound to a very smooth 4.5#'s and the hammer dropped everytime without a mag
