I just purchased the M&P Shield plus and can't find any magazines for it. 1) Does anyone know when S&W will be releasing the 10 and 13 rd magazines for purchase on their own? 2) Does anyone know of what aftermarket magazines might fit in the Shield plus? Thanks!

You bought a brand new 'platform'.
All available mags are being allocated to new units (being packaged with the pistol).
If you go on GunBroker (aka GunJoker), there are a few Retailers in '10-Round Restricted' States who are selling 13-round mags (taken from the new units) for a half-way decent price, but that's about it.

You MAY start seeing some mags in another Month or two. Keep checking with your LGS. When THEY start getting them, you will also start seeing them everywhere, BUT Remember... You will NOT be the only new Shield Plus owner looking to pounce on spare mags. ;)

But... how many spares do you intend to carry simultaneously?

"Fit" is not the word you should be concerned with.

400 pound women get into yoga pants, so technically they "fit".

Many after market mags are junk (especially promag) if you want reliable wait for OEM mags to be available.

Unfortunately it's a new gun during a dempanic, so it might take a few months for them to be available.

Yep, unless and until CheckMate comes out with mags for it...

I’m also frustrated about the lack of magazines availability for this new firearm. Who thought it was a good idea to produce a brand new model and not look after making magazines for it available?

That's pretty much the way it's been for almost every new handgun, for over 12 Years.
Why do people think it's a good idea to purchase a brand new model without 1st checking the availability of extra mags Holsters and add-ons? ;)

Agree with you 100%. Unfortunately, for us "newbies to handguns" we are still not smart enough to do that. lol

Although for my needs, I won't need more than the 2 mags to stop a home intruder. If that doesn't work, I have another M&P with 5 mags.

For Range visits, I will just have to reload the mags. And, I don't spend more than 30 minutes there before my arthritic hands bother me.

Still seems like they should be close to production on them.

Well I am back again. I continue to stay in contact with the folks at SW about the lack of magazines for the shield plus. There are still none available and no word on when or if there will be any..
I encourage all current and potential Shield Plus customers to contact SW via email, social media and/or snail mail to let them know your concerns about their poor business practices.

I have contacted them by phone several times. Say they come in and are bought up right away. Keep calling. I told her I am buying a Glock. She just laughed.

8/1/21 I just went on thye Smith & Wesson official site and they don't even list magazines for sale there they defer you to a dealer. Nobody has these magazines! I am really disappointed with S&W for releasing a pistol without sufficient stocks of magazines. This smacks of greed to get he money for the guns then hold off on the magazines so they ca increase the price to stellar costs. I bet when they finallt do release thos 13 rd mags they will be selling for $75 - $80 a piece. This may well be my last S&W firearm!

This actually smacks of lack of planning/forethought of the buyer to not ask about mag availability (of a new model handgun) before buying the gun itself.

If you check some of the firearm auction sites, Some of the Dealers in the 'Nanny States' that limit mags to 10 rounds are selling off 13 round mags available for a decent price.

What do you consider a decent price? They are supposed to go for about $40 a piece, but I have seen them over $100 on the auction sites.

I've seen a bunch sold for about $35 before the bidding frenzied buyers that 'Just Gotta Have 'Em NOW' found out about them.
Don't blame the sellers for the outrageous prices (unless you are seeing Non-Auction sellers pricing them around $100). Blame the idiot Bidders
