Hi all, quick question(s) for you all I'm sure. I just picked up a beautiful model 60 .38 special and was wondering 2 things. 1. Can I tell what year it was made by serial number?

And 2. Can it handle +p ammo?

Everything I have found leads me to believe it can handle the +p, but I haven't been able to confirm.

Thanks in advance!

I'll go along with that. Who needs the added recoil of a + in such a short barrel. Must have control.

Just wanted to make sure it was safe, if I chose to do so.

Thanks!

If you post the first 3 to 4 digits of the SN we would be able to tell you. On my Model 60 it is on the bottom of the grip strap.

Is it a Model 60 no dash?? Like Srigs said if you post the first 3 to 4 numbers of the SN we can look it up in the SCSW.

I do carry .38+p my Model 60 no dash. I don't shoot any in it very much. Shooting +p ammo in a older J Frame won't hurt it.
