I went to the range on Saturday, and low and behold, it dropped for the first time. Actually it dropped two or three consecutive times. I haven't kept up with the number of rounds, but a guestimate at this time would be anywhere from 600-800. Crap.

My gun left the S&W factory in March of 2007.

I thought FrMurphy's long newbie post dated Nov. 6, 2007 on the second page of this thread was excellent to describe how to analyze the magdrop problem. http://mp-pistol.com/boards/viewtopic.php?...&highlight=



If I were you, I'd pull the spring out of your magazine, remove the slide from your gun, and then inspect how the magazine catch engages the magazine's catch-hole while inserting the empty mag body. While doing this, see if you can get the mag body to drop free without pressing your magazine catch release button but by wiggling the magazine body and pulling gently. You'll likely be amazed at just how little of the catch actually engages the magazine body's catch-hole.
