I bought my M&P for duty use. I took it out and qualified with it. I shot a 98 out of 100. I only did a 89 with the Glock22 i replaced witht he M&P.
The M&P feels better in my hand the the Glock ever did. It seems to "point" better. The price was reasonable as i was determined to find one locally. I paid 468$ plus shipping and sales tax came to 504$ out the door.
Ive always been one to criticize Smith & Wesson autos and whent hey made the infamous deal with the clintons I pledged i would never own a S&W product but times change.
Over all im pleased with the M&P but mine came with "extra features" from the factory.
It hase some really weird looking blemishes in the finsih on the top of the slide in front of the ejection port. It first i thought they were cracks but no they are some kind of flaw in the finish i cant explain what it is but its not a big deal as i said this is a duty weapon not a show piece.
Another feature is there is a swril or circular machine marks in the slide at the rear most area of the extractor. Again it dont impede the function of the weapon. Smith&Wesson's QA guy or girl must have been on break when this gun got boxed or just didnt care to inspect it.
All the advertisements i saw for this weapon shows it come with 2 15 round mags mine arrived with 2 10 round mags.
I called Smith & Wesson and spoke with Mark Rossini. I adressed my concerns with him about getting short changed ont he mags and he said i could send him the 10 rounders and he would send me some 15 rounders and i explained to him this was a duty weapon and askedwhat was i going to put my ammunition in. He informed me i could send my mags in one at a time. To me this was unacceptable.
I also want to note at this time when I gave him my pistols serial number he checked with his supervisor and informed me that my pistol was supposed to leave the factory with 10 round magazines. Though my state has no magazine restrictions
I informed him i wanted the magazines the pistol was advertised with everything my dealer had showed it came with 15 round mags.
I got tired of getting the run around so i caleld up CDNNinvestments and they did have 2 15 round mags in stock so i bought them. Problem solved.
I decided to keep the 10 round mags as well after seeing posts here that S&W may or may not give me a extended slide release as the factory one on mine is rather hard to manipulate. I emailed Mark Rossini and asked about it and he never replied so im done dealing with smith&wesson.
The pistol it self is an excellent handgun. I have no complaints about how it functions. It shoots well and i do recomend it to others.
