I've shot 150 rounds through it now, and on the last round of every magazine, it jams. Sometimes it happens on the second to last round also. I've used 2 types of ammunition and it still happens. This happens using both factory magazines. It even happens if I only put 3-5 rounds in the magazine.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to contact S&W maybe?
Yes, I've taken apart both magazines. They both seem fine. I've never dealt with Smith & Wesson support. Is it easy to have issues fixed with them? Do you usually mail it to them, or take it to the store it was bought from?
I've found it easier lately to go to the S&W website and send them an email rather than call and wait around on hold. If you decide to send it back. You'll receive a confirmation email back almost immediately.
I never had to deal with S&W CS but its the best in the business. I bought my M&P9 FS at the range that I shoot at. They have a M&P expert on staff and they installed a trigger spring for me for free. Check with the place you bought it or the range you shoot and maybe they have someone who can help you out B4 sending it in to S&W. It's got to be mags as if it were the feed ramp the jam would happen on 'other' rounds. (JMHO)
I had this happen on my 40c when it was new. It would jam feeding the last round. I called CS and they said wait a little while, put more rounds down range. I ended up having both mags loaded for about a month before my next range visit. This time had zero issues. I'd say your mag springs are just stiff and need some breaking in. Give it a shot, I think you'll be fine.
Just an update on this, I contacted S&W, and they sent me a pre-paid shipping label, and I sent it to them. They say the turn around is 4 weeks, so I guess I'll be without it for a while, but hopefully they can fix it
Keep us updated and sorry to hear of the issues your having . I have the M&P pro9 and so far it's been flawless threw the first 100 rounds . Plan on hitting the range this weekend to run another 100 or so .
Sounds like a burr or machining marks on the chamber and/or feed ramp. A good polishing might cure this problem. After polishing, my feed ramp and chamber is like a mirror and slick as ice. Absolutely no feed issues.
I had that issue on my 45, but only with a certain magazine. Turns out that magazine's spring bend over up near the top 1/4 mark, making the last two rounds not feed correctly.
This is a problem many face. If you don't correct it will manifest as a "last round hold open" problem. stretch the magazine spring! remove the bottom plate and pull. Add 6 inches to it and you may find a solution.
I sent my M&P 9C after about 8000 rounds for the updated magazine release. My old style release had gotten worn. They sent me she shipping label and I Fedexed it to them. I had it back with the new release, and they installed a new recoil spring, within a week. As far as I'm concerned their CS is one of the best.
