Well, IT has arrived guys.

Picked up my M&P 9, serial #MPH6xxx from my FFL just a about an hour ago.

Something my FFL guy said to me right off the bat..."MAN, the slide on this thing is STIFF!"

And, it is. I have to pull back while hitting the slide release, pushing on the release without pulling back on the slide WILL NOT do...!

Is this normal?

Will it "break-in"??

So new, I have not even read the manual yet,so will read before I attempt to get "THE TOOL"(
) out of the handle.

Speaking of handle, I don't know yet what size grip it comes with in the box, but it fits my hand perfect, as is...

She really looks good, can't wait to try it out at the range!

Any tips anyone wants to share, please do.

They must have just made that one. Mine is MPH4xxx. I got it two weeks ago.

Yes the slide release is stiff. I noticed that shooting an IDPA match a week ago. I hope it breaks in, but mine is so new I don't know for sure.

You don't really need to get the tool out of the grip. Anything that will fit in there to push down the sear deactivation lever will work.

They come with the medium grip installed and it fits me perfect too. I thought I would like the large but the medium is just right for me.

OK guys, looked at the manual now...

GaryXD, yup it comes with the medium grip on.

I tried the large and small, can't beat that medium fit for me!

Matt7184, I actually ordered my M&P 9 about 9/29....I paid by check, so had to do the "10 day clear" thing.

Still makes me wonder why in this day and time 'ya got to wait 10 days for a check to clear? I buy stuff local by check all the time, takes about 10 SECONDS for an electronic clear.

Who knows...

Anyway, Buds sent it out last Friday, my FFL got it today.

Give them an email or call, they seemed to respond pretty quick to my emails....

How does it compare?

So you have one ... how does it feel in comparison to others in the same category ... H&K USP Comp ... Sig P2000 ... Sig P229 ... Glock 19 ... XD9 ... etc etc ... we are enjoying your enthusiasm ... just curious about details ... thanks ... John

The first time I took the tool out I had to almost pull it out with my teeth. Even though you don't need it for sear deactivation you still need it to remove it to change grips.

THE TOOL.........

Remembered a post here on MP-Pistol.com I had read about using the magazine lip to pull out the tool.

Tried that out....it works great! :!:

After turning handle, just pry out the tool with the mag lip, no muss, no fuss, piece of cake.

Yes it will soften. I've got 200 rounds through mine and it isn't nearly as stiff as when I first got it. I'm a lefty and the "lefty" release is still real stiff, but the righty release (which I have been used to using on my Glock and 1911) has loosened up significantly and is what I would consider to be normal now.

Congrats on a great pistol!

yeah thanks PUD. That method Im sure will now become standard proccedure. That thing frustrated the sh!* out of me. I think I kinda mauled the little plastic nub on the tool trying t get it out the first time and yes teeth were part of the process. Didn't get it out with the teeth for fear of losing one, but did finally muscle it out.
