Hello all!

Yesterday, I purchased the M&P9 full size. Living in the unfriendly gun state of California, I can't take it home for 10 days. Anyway, I was wondering about breaking the new gun in. I would like some suggestions as to what ammo to use to do that. I don't want to put crappy ammo through it. I figure that the better the ammo, the better the gun will function, given proper maintenance, of course.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome from SoCal. You done good! Now just toddle down to WalMart and pick up a bunch of Blazer Brass or UMC or Winchester White Box (WWB). I prefer the Blazer Brass myself but it all works well. Wally World is the very best place for practice ammo. Now when you get ready for self defense stuff you'll want an online source like Ammunition To Go.

Don't forget to send in your $50 rebate and 2 free mags by mail form.

Thanks for your reply.

One of the main reasons for going with the M&P9 was the ambidextrous features, being left handed. I have the form for the rebate, but do I have to wait until I get my handgun or can I send it right now?

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your new M&P!

Don't worry about the practice ammo. Buy WWB or Blazer because you'll be able to afford more ammo to practice with. And don't worry about breaking it in, just shoot it and enjoy

I agree, WWB from Walmart is what I use to train with and I have never had any issues. Do you plan to reload your own, if not I would ask Walmart to special order you bulk, in some cases the manager will cut you a deal.

I didn't wait. I sent my form and paid in full receipt the day I DROSed. The serial number should be on your copy of the paperwork.

Congrats! You need a bill of sale for the rebate.

Thanks!

Did I read the rebate ad right? I thought that it stated one rebate per verifiable serial number. Does that mean that S&W will honor the rebate for each M&P handgun purchased until the end date?
