very happy with the gun but have a couple issues. First the slide release took 2 hands to

opertate. Dan said it should ease up with use and it could also be pollish up. Others have

sent theirs back to smith and they put a diff (larger edge) rls on. 2nd issue is that when

I use a slightly agressive magazine change (like in idpa competion) the slide releases from

it's locked back position.I have 220 rnds thru the gun now.I plan to send this to dan for a

competiton trigger job,throat pollishing,front & rear sights. Question is do I need to send

it back to Smith & Wesson first to get these issues resolved.

No on both counts. Nearly all plastic frame pistols will release the side on a good solid mag insertion. My M&P .45 does this and I for one like it. Faster that way!

As for the slide release, last time I tried mine, it was stiff also. However, I never use it any way. I never drop the side on an empty chamber and I always rack the slide by hand when I need to chamber a round.
