I do not open carry. Mainly because I live in Pittsburgh and people would freak out if someone around here did that. I also don't feel that some of the LEOs around here are up to date on the law about it.

I don't open carry either (I live in Pittsburgh too) because I'm just not comfortable doing so. I have read about a few people in this area, and numerous others across the state doing so (including Philly), and just wanted to see if anyone here does so.

I just found it misleading how a couple of years ago, I had a conversation with a sheriff from another county (whom I somewhat know and had spoken with about Pennsylvania's laws concerning concealed carry); he specifically stated that "concealed means concealed, you can go to jail if your gun comes into public view." I took this to heart which in turn dissuaded me from applying for my PA license to carry at the time. Now that I have become more comfortable with concealing a firearm and gotten my LTCF, I have been researching some of the laws further, and the topic of OC had come up.

Basically, I was lied to about the laws in PA concerning carrying a firearm, and was just a little surprised on how I was mislead by a person who is supposed to uphold the law. I understand he may have done so because he was either ignorant of this area of the law (doubtful since he is responsible for issuing LTCFs), or because he knew that most of the John Q. Publics would over-react to knowing that another citizen may be armed, leading to unnecessary police calls, etc...

I guess I was just taken by surprise a little regarding open carrying a firearm...and the fact that there does not exist any such law in PA regarding brandishing, as long as it can not be construed as a personal threat or intimidation tactic.

$0.02 of new found wisdom that I wanted to get some more insight on. Kind of makes you wonder how else people are mislead on a day to day basis when it comes to some "laws."

is anyone up on a site where I can find rules about where concealed carry is legal in PA?

I have heard some states don't allow you to CC anywhere alcohol is served.

What about banks?

Just curious and can't seem to find any real website with a breakdown for PA.

New guy here from Huntingdon County, first post. Still feeling my way around the site. I am finding it very friendly and informative. Hope to learn something from those on the forum, might even find myself posting in a thread once in a while.

You guys should check this place out. Not far from Pittsburgh

Dan's Ammo

It looks pretty sweet. I haven't had a chance to order but I know someone who did and this can wheel and deal with the best of them. Go with cash and expect to walk away happy

As a longtime customer of Dan, I can't say enough good things about him... GREAT man with which to do business! His site is, well, rather basic but if you keep an eye open on it some really crazy stuff pops up! Case in point, a few weeks ago he had a shipment of HK P7s for about twelve hours...

Freedom in Beaver County. We all need to get together and have a M&P P.A. shoot & eat like a family reunion or something. Have each person bring a dish of food. A few could bring grills. Game food would be great if possible. What do ya say Jester? Just a thought. Oh if we get our sponsors involved that would be premo!!!!!!

Yes, I'm resurrecting this thread.

I'm from SW PA, about 45 - 50 minutes outside of Pittsburgh.

If you ever go over to Cabela's in Wheeling, WV, then you pass right by my exit off the highway.

FWIW, I'm a regular at the monthly PAFOA group shoots that are held out at PMSC :)

Jetser,

I'm new to the forum and live down the road in Neshannock township. Do you belong to any of the local clubs? I belong to Castlewood, although I need a lot of practice I do enjoy shooting my M&P 40c.
