Been longing for the M&P Pro9 ever since it was introduced at the Shot Show. I would love to see the thumb safety on this model also. It would be a great alternative to my Glock 34 for competition. To me, the thumb safety (M&P 45) gives the gun a great ergonomic feel much like a 1911. Wondering if this model will ever come to fruition...

I was waiting for the long barrel version but the range bag and 2 magazine deal convinced me that my M&P9 needed a partner in the M&P40. Got it 2 weeks back and sold my XD40 last week. 500 rounds later I think it is one of the best decision I ever made.

That sounds kind of familiar. After selling my Glock 17 that ran approx 6000 failure free round sthrough in 10 months, I started wondering if I did the right thing. Now that i have approx 600 through my M&P9, I'm not looking back. I just wish I had fired an M&P before ever buying the Glock.

Full power .40's are snappy in whatever you shoot. The XD was leaving the nuckle on my right thumb bloody after 150 rounds or so. The M&P boattail soes not. The better fit makes the percieved recoil less.

I like my M&P's

The M&P is the only .40 I have ever really enjoyed shooting. Quite an achievement.

Was talking to a shop owner the other day and brought up the subject of the M&P Pro9 and if he had heard of any release date, he said he was talking to an S&W rep who said its not going to happen. Also said that the thumb safety is strickly for the 45. S&W only put on the 45 to get government contracts and has no plans of putting it on the 9mm or 40.

One can only hope someone is spewing erroneous information.

I would like a Pro for gun games but then I shoot what I carry so I can do without it. It would be fun though. My guess is that we will see them at some point. Perhaps your shop owner is different but I generally don't believe a thing they say especially if they are trying to sell you what they have in stock.
