I just read that Cincinatti (sp?) just went to 9mm M&Ps... Anyone know what caliber other departments are going to?

The day of the 9mm is done. Put a fork in it. .40 & .45 is the way to go.

Old Saybrook PD just accepted the M&P40 as the new duty pistol. We will be putting it out to bid soon, and then going for issue. If anyone is looking for a duty holster, the Safariland ALS is what we are going with, and it is the best I have tested.

Clearwater PD in Clearwater, Florida transitioned to MP40's.

Cincinnatti switched to the MP a little bit ago, about 6-8 months ago.

Also, Columbus, Dallas/Ft Worth Airport PD, Iowa State Police and several other dept's in NC.

The Sheriffs office I work for are still hanging on to the Glock 22 for general issue. A hand full of guys have ventured out on their own and choose to carry their own guns for duty. A handful of kimbers and other custom 1911's but I decided to replace my Glock 22 with you guess it a new M&P 40. its great I love it, it is a hit on range day i will slowly convert them all

Hmmmmm. I dont believe you. Here, take this gold dot 124grn +p in the chest, and get back to me with your thoughts.[/quote]

I believe the day for the 9mm for LAW ENFORCEMENT use is over. they are still great for target shooting. less expensive to shoot

although not as popular as it once was the 9mm is still alive and kicking for a LE round. Look at all the federal agencies that still issue it. Federal Bureau of Prisons, VA Police, I believe US Customs still issue it. Indiana State Police went back to it. It will be around for a while. Not to mention almost all other countries LE forces use it.
